The movie opens in a Los Angeles convenience store one late Monday night, where a smalltime drug dealer named Nick (Aaron Eckhart) is trying to decide what coffee brand to buy. His ex-lover Dallas (Paulina Porizkova) and fellow hitman Billy Hill (James LeGros) are getting impatient and tell him to hurry up. Conflicts between Nick and the cashier (Luck Hari) ensue, resulting in Dallas shooting the cashier dead. Though the three attempt to cover up the crime, they are forced to also shoot a police officer (Bari K. Willerford) when he discovers blood on the ground. A former L.A. drug dealer has moved to Houston to make a new life for himself as a married architect. Everything falls apart when he is suddenly visited by one of his former cohorts who comes carrying heroin. Discovering the dope, the architect flushes it down the drain. This sets up a series of tough customers seeking the dope including a Rasta hit-man, an ex-lover Dallas who ties him up and rapes him, a criminal called Billy with a penchant for torture, and a rogue cop. Saw this on cable TV late one night. It's an amazing find. The characters are well-acted. Scenes buildup in intense sequences. The plot is original and daring. I won't spoil anything. I'd recommend to this to a fan of Terrantino, etc. thrillers. I was up late one night and watched Thursday on Showtime and loved it. I TiVoed it and showed it to almost all of my friends, who also loved it. My biggest question is when the hell is it going to be available on DVD? I can't find it anywhere. If you have not seen this film, you should, it is way underrated. I have seen numerous movies on DVD in the store that no one has heard of or are so old and forgotten that I can't believe they bothered to make a DVD version of them. Most of these are in the $5.99 bucket at Best Buy now. This movie appears to be only available on VHS. I think if it were released on DVD, word of mouth alone would get it the respect and sales that it deserves. How many movies push the envelope like Thursday? It's about drug dealers, sleaze bags and one man's very bad day. All of it was done in a stylish way with a good soundtrack and some funny humor in between the violence and serious parts. My vote for this film to go to DVD may not be enough, but the more people that see it, the more people will want a copy on DVD. PUT THURSDAY ON DVD!
